Research Route 66:
Preserving and Celebrating the Stories of Route 66 for Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Synopsis
As we celebrate the anniversary of Route 66 on November 11 we ask: What is the future of Route 66? Preserving the memories of those who built, traveled, and lived on the road is part of that future, but who will take on this task?
This session introduces Research Route 66, a collaboration of libraries, museums, and archives dedicated to research, preserving historical records, and making Route 66 stories and testimony accessible for generations to come. Participants will discover the stories, documents, and artifacts these institutions are collecting and learn how they can contribute to, use, and appreciate these valuable collections.
